Pettyjohn Family

Father's Day can mean a lot of different things to different people. For some it can mean cooking out on the grill while having a few beers with your dad or maybe it’s pushing your own kids on the swing at the local park. For others it can be a painful reminder of what we no longer have. Regardless of what this day currently means to you, there is no doubt in my mind that having photos with your dad will someday be very important. It doesn't matter if it's a silly selfie or a formal family portrait but one day holding that photo in your hand will bring back a flood of memories like nothing else can. I take one look at a photo of my dad and I can hear his laughter ringing through the house. It's funny how I can't hear that at any other time except when I see his face. But that is the magical power of photos and that is why I will tell you again and again how important it is to take them at all stages of life.

I was reminded of how fast the time flies when I was taking photos of Colton Pettyjohn and his two boys Christian and Connor. When I first met Colton in 2018, we were coworkers at the same car dealership and we worked together for several years. What's really interesting about working with someone for a long time is that you feel like you know their family. So, when you meet them, it's like a reunion instead of an introduction. Colton would go on and on about his boys to the point I felt like I knew them as well as I knew him. And sure, they would come around the dealership occasionally. But a quick high and bye is not the same as quality time. So I’m sure you can imagine my excitement when Colton and I discussed family photos for him and his boys a few weeks ago. Between how sweet Connor is and how hilarious Christian is I had an absolutely amazing time with this family and I hope to do it again someday.

I will tell you a bit about this session and then you can scroll to see the rest of the amazing photos of Colton and his sons.
