Small Business Feature: Lincoln Garden

There are many nights I am at my office until much later than I expected, especially this time of year. It's easy for me to be working on projects until I realize my eyes are crossing and I need a break from my computer screen. For the past six years, my photography business has been located on Lincoln Avenue. Having Lincoln Garden only a block and a half away has been my saving grace.
Sitting at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Reynolds Drive is the family restaurant, Lincoln Garden. While our little town of Charleston, Illinois has several great places to eat, I consistently find myself sitting in a booth at this specific place.
The most wonderful thing about Lincoln Garden is how welcoming they are. Gici and Fazile have always made me feel like part of the family, even long before I was a regular customer. I truly believe that is part of the work culture engrained in this team because every employee makes me feel like a million bucks. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. Also, several of the servers have been there for many years so you know this team is its own little family and I really love that.
Oh gosh...we still need to talk about food. This is a blog about a restaurant after all! I don't think I've ever had a bad meal from here. Seriously. While they have a broad breakfast menu ranging from waffles with ice cream to the famed Lincoln Skillet, the Cinnamon French Toast is my go-to breakfast choice. Now, I'm a breakfast girlie who would eat breakfast foods at every meal, if possible, which it is at Lincoln Garden because they serve breakfast all day.
However, with Lincoln Garden's even broader lunch and dinner menu, I can't always limit myself to breakfast. My father-in-law says it best when he says you can't go wrong with a burger-and they do have very good burgers. But my husband often lands on pasta, and I almost always land on the Beef Roll. It's funny how we're such creatures of habit and we all have our favorites, but there is nothing bad on the menu.
Pro Tips: Their shakes are the best in town. I never really eat dessert at most restaurants, and you don't need to here because the portions are so big, but if I eat dinner food at Lincoln Garden, I'm ordering the chocolate shake. Trust me...it's soooo good! The other tip I have is to ask about soup to-go. In the winter, I'll order "the big thing of soup" to go and for less than $15, my husband and I can eat our favorite soup all week long.
